So Your Spouse or Partner Doesn’t Support Your Passion. Now What?

personality type

Are you in the process of trying to find or pursue your life passion?

If so, congratulations — this is the most important work you can ever undertake toward enhancing your personal happiness and sense of purpose in life.

But what if you find this amazing thing that makes you come alive with enthusiasm and excitement, and suddenly your spouse or partner gives you the thumbs down?  They aren't happy with what you are doing — or even worse, they try to sabotage it.

To change things up a bit, I've created an encouraging audio recording about this topic today. It's about 8 minutes long, and you can download it here to listen to at your convenience:

Your Spouse Doesn't Support Your Life Passion

In the podcast, I mention some assessments and resources. You can access them here:

    Good day Barrie,
I’ve been a long time fan and I hate to do this to you but I have a complaint:(
I share many of your posts with a friend of mine and she finds them very helpful in her life, but I can’t share this one with her because she is deaf.
In future, could you maybe have a written version available as well? I ask this only because of how helpful the information is to her and this post in particular really hits home in her life.
Thank you for being there for all those who need your compassion and experience the most. Your work is making a difference and it is appreciated.

      Hi Early Bird,
Thank you so much for sharing my posts with your friend and for your kind words. Yes, I will be glad to do that!

  2. Wow! Thank you Barrie for this wonderful piece of advice! It is so timely for me right now and I know there are so many other people out there that need to hear this now or that will need to hear it in the future! In the span of 15 minutes I listened to this podcast from you and read a blog post from Jonathan Fields and the two together have helped me realize two things. I need to spend some time being honest with myself regarding what I am really passionate about pursuing (I think I am only touching around the edges of my true passion currently) and that I need to have a follow-up conversation about my life passions and where they might lead with my wife. Life is really amazing! Thank you for your help!

      Hi Steve,
Isn’t it great when information arrives in your lap just when you need it most?!! I’m so glad my podcast was helpful for you — and that Jonathan’s post added to that. I’d love to hear how your passion search goes and how you and your wife have worked together on it.

  3. I’d sure love a text version too.
With text we can refer back to it, reread it again later, and frankly I can focus better when I’m reading, versus listening

    Best regards,

Great to know Jack — I will definitely keep the text versions coming! 🙂
