You Are Missed

This is Spring Break week in Atlanta, and I have taken my youngest daughter on a trip to San Francisco. In fact, I'm typing this from my hotel room. We have had an incredible time. We spent time with my sister who lives in Santa Cruz not far from San Francisco. The weather has been perfectly delightful, and yesterday we drove to Point Lobos National Reserve, and spent the day sitting on a beach watching baby seals floating in the water and collecting shells.

Today we were back in San Francisco, and I had the pleasure of meeting with Leo Babauta of Zen Habits for breakfast. Later my daughter and I strolled through Fisherman's Wharf, stuffed our faces with Ghiradelli chocolate, and sipped jasmine tea at the Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park. We'll be leaving in a few minutes to have dinner and see the Broadway musical Rock of Ages.

Needless to say, this has been a trip of a lifetime for my daughter, and so much fun for me to share this experience with her. But here's a strange thing that has happened: I really miss all of you! Just before I left, I sent an e-mail to my subscribers asking them to share their top five fears and worries so that I could address some of these things in future posts. I received so many beautiful and touching e-mails in response. I feel eager to address the issues that were brought up and respond to the courageous and honest revelations that so many of you shared.

I will be back at my desk on Thursday, but in the meantime I want you all to know that I miss connecting with you. I look forward to writing a full article later in the week.

One other exciting bit of news that I'd like to celebrate with you — while in San Francisco, I reached over 5000 subscribers on Live Bold and Bloom! Thank you all for joining our community of bold and fearless bloomers. If you haven't subscribed yet, I hope you will. You'll receive a copy of my free guide and two free videos.

Have a great week!

    Hi Cathy,
Nice to see you here. Thank you for the welcome and for your kind comments.

  3. It sounds fabulous Barrie. I’m looking forward to spending some time with my kids and other relatives in the UK very soon but I won’t be able to seing breakfast with Leo and you! Very envious of that but maybe we can do it again at BlogWorld?! I think I’ll go again this year and I’d love to see you again.

Anyway, was just swinging by because I’m just recommending your course to someone and it’s great to see you walking the walk:) x Annabel

      Hi Annabel,
If I could find a way, I’d fly to UK and have breakfast with you! I hope you have a wonderful trip. Just got home myself — it was a great trip. Thanks for dropping by. čÖé

  4. Congratulations on reaching 5k in subscribers!

Enjoy your time in SF. It’s special city. I was there in January and randomly bumped into Leo crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.

I’m looking forward to your posts about fears and worries.

      Hi Jason,
Wow, what an amazing coincidence in such a large city! I will be writing another post soon. Thank you for your kind comments.

  5. Have a refreshing time in beautiful S.F. You’re an inspiration to so many.

  6. What a great way to spend special time with your daughter! Thank you, Barrie, for your wonderful blog and almost daily words of encouragement and thoughtfulness. Congratulations on reaching a milestone of 5,000 subscribers – impressive! Enjoy the rest of your time travelling with your daughter. Hugs from still cold and snowy Qu├ębec City XX

  7. Barrie,
Congratulations!!! I’m so happy for you. You’re my inspiration.

  8. How wonderful! I am also an Atlantan and had the pleasure of visiting SF a few years back. It was gorgeous, even went to Point Lobos! We rented a red mustang convertible and drove down to Monterrey! But how awesome that you got to meet with Leo? That would be a highlight of the trip, for sure!

    • Barrie Davenport says:

Wow, I didn’t know you were an Atlantan. Do you live here now? Where? Point Lobos was so beautiful. In fact, Northern California is just stunning everywhere you go. I had met Leo before at Blogworld, but it was great to spend some one-on-one time with him. He is such a great person — very real and easy going.

  9. Congratulations on hitting the 5K! Thanks for blogging about NorCal, you have given me a bug to take my own kids to San Francisco. Such a fun, kid friendly, city, the will LOVE it!

    Enjoy the ride čÖé

      Hi Shanda,
I can’t say enough great things about Northern Cal. It was spectacular. A couple of years ago, we did the drive to Big Sur, but the road was messed up because of the storms. So that’s why we went to Point Lobos. I’m so glad we did. It was really special. We also loved the Saturday morning market at the Ferry Building. Your kids would love that!

  10. Hi Barrie
You picked a great week to visit our neck of the woods in California. The weather has been great. As I am sure your sister has told you all about the rain they have had in Santa Cruz hills. I live in the East Bay (across from San Francisco). Wish you a fun filled time here and take care.
    Mary

    • Barrie Davenport says:

      Hi Mary,
She did tell me about it — in fact, she watch some of her neighbors lose their front porch and many stores were flooded. But everything was sunny and beautiful over the weekend. We did pick the best time to go! Nice to have some blogging friends from the area. Next time I visit, we should all meet up!

  11. Next time take a trip to southern California. It’s terrific too!

Of course you miss your readers. You like to share or you wouldn’t be doing the blog you do. But it’s good to get away sometimes and realize it so things don’t become ho-hum as even things we love can become.

Glad you and your daughter are having a blast.

    • Barrie Davenport says:

      Hi Timaree,
OK, I’m totally game for a Southern California visit. Where do you recommend? Thanks for your kind comments. I’m home now, but have many great memories from this fabulous trip.

  12. Have a great time! As for me, I’m not doing anything except for lounging around! The highlight of the holidays for me will be my friends birthday…
Thanks for inspiring me so much! I’ve named my blog after you because you are awesome!
